The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game is one of the premier all star high school football games in the entire country. The All Star Band first appeared in 2006, and has become a very special part of the Bowl Game. Last year when the band took the field for its halftime show, nearly 100 strong, it was a thrilling experience for everyone.
Another All Star Band is being formed now for the 59th Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, and the young men and women selected will be among the finest musicians in the twin states.
The 59th Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will be played Saturday, August 4 at Dartmouth College and the All Star Band will perform in both the pre-game parade and halftime show. The young musicians will be marching so that children less fortunate than themselves can someday walk; these are the children in the Shrine Hospitals for whom the Bowl game is played.
Band members will be invited to a dinner/meeting April 1, 2012 in Lebanon, NH to meet with Co-Directors Fritz Wendlandt and Philip Crotto. Music for the halftime show will be distributed at that time.
There will be two days of rehearsal on Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 3 at Dartmouth College. Band members will be housed and fed at no expense to themselves or their families.
